TEST DEVICE FEATURES:

- Aluminum 20cm wide by 40cm sample box with test water differential head
measurement ports located in the box with 30 cm spacing

- All materials contacting test water will be fabricated from aluminum, acrylic,
plastic,
rubber, or other appropriate corrosion resistant materials

- Up to a 11cm profile thickness

- Outlet weir features 11cm + tall threshold across the test width to ensure
saturation
of the sample profile prior to testing

- Loading platen restricts fugitive water flow

- Platen removal assist device

- Pneumatic loading system providing constant load throughout the entire 11cm
test
profile utilizing

- Force controlled by a precision pressure regulator. Regulated air pressure is
directed to pneumatic cylinders offering three different loading configurations to
enhance compressive load range capability and with greater than 5.0% accuracy.
NOTE: Auxiliary loading ram should be considered for pressures below
20kPa
- Pneumatic loading system features a large diameter, multi-stage ram and a
supplementary single stage ram

- Force indicated with a 5K, 10K, 20K, 30K, 40K, or 50K lb load cell and a panel
meter with a tare feature (0.25% F.S. accuracy). (meter can be scaled in metric
or
English units)

- Sample loading from downstream reservoir end of test box

- Access to the loading platen offers ability to monitor profile consolidation

- Upstream head tank features an adjustable head control tube and manual throttle
valve (supply to enter head tank near bottom of tank with baffle to protect profile) 0
to
1+ gradient (gradient measured via sight manometer with scale (0.0" or 1.0 mm
resolution)
