Melt Flow Index Testers and Accessories

BT Technology Inc. has two melt flow index models available as well as a
variety of options to support them.

AD-S-BA-000 Melt Indexer (Method A)
AD-S-BA-500 Melt Indexer (Method A & B)

Both devices meet ASTM D1238 and D 3364

In our experience Method A is the most accepted procedure for most polymers
used in geosynthetics.

-Multiple flags can be run in Method B or multiple cuts taken with Method A

MODEL AD-S-D4002

MODEL AD-S-D4002HV (Wired for 220 VAC, 50Hz)
The addition of Method B testing in the Model AD-S-D4002 frees operators for
additional duties during routine operation. The expanded weight set allows running
many common materials including polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, etc.
(see KAYENESS Technical Bulletin #1001 for a more complete listing). The model
AD-S-D4002 has the features of the AD-S-D4001 plus twenty program memory and is
prewired for the Pneumatic Lift Option (AD-C-D4056) and expansion to higher models
in the LMI 4000 series. The twenty program memory is perfect for operations with
more than one type or grade of polymer. The expansion capability is also included in
this model in case more varied testing is expected or the pneumatic lift might be
necessary at a later date.

MODEL D4003

ITEM CODE DESCRIPTION

1 1.00 Model AD-S-D4003 in accordance with Model AD-S-D4002, plus the
following:
1.01 Full 60 program memory. Program selection automatically loads all
test parameters,
including orifice dimensions, material ID, temperatures, etc.
1.02 Computes shear stress, shear rate, and viscosity in English, metric,
or S.I. units.
1.03 Average, standard deviation, and coefficient of variance are
calculated for viscosity,
shear rate and stress, and flow rates for test series.
1.04 Flow rate ratio can be done in one run with all data from each
individual run being
printed.
1.05 Enter and record operator code, sample and material I.D.
1.06 Q.C. limits may be entered and pass, high or low will be calculated
and displayed on the
print out
1.07 Includes intrinsic viscosity (IV) correlation of PET capability.
1.08 Flag set consisting of 7 tapes: one tape with 1 - 1" flag; one tape
with 2 - ½" flags; one
tape with 3 - 1/8" flags; one tape with 1 - 1" and 1 -¼" flags; one tape
with 3 - ¼" flags;
one tape with 2 -¼" flags; and one tape with 1 - ¼" flag. (This set is
standard for the
AD-S-D4003 model and the AD-S-D4004 model.)

MODEL AD-S-D4003: (Wired for 110 VAC, 60 Hz)
MODEL AD-S-D4003HV (Wired for 220 VAC, 50Hz)

The Model AD-S-D4003 is preferred by most users because of its programming
flexibility (sixty programs) and the notebook form print-out. The print-out from the
AD-S-D4003 shows viscosity, shear rate, and shear stress, in addition to flow rate.
Additionally, statistical quality or process control limits can be monitored. Flow rate
ratio or multiple flags with a single weight can be done on one Method B test.
Alternatively, multiple sample cuts can be taken in Method A testing. Note: A printer
is required to fully utilize the Model AD-S-D4003 enhanced electronic package.

MODEL D4004

Our most advanced melt indexer is the Model AD-S-D4004. It has the features of the
Model AD-S-D4003, plus memory and RS232 serial ports for interfacing with the
personal computers. The Multiplexing option allows a single computer to collect data
from eight melt indexers (or more in units of eight) via a single personal computer.
The Model AD-S-D4004 is used in situations requiring computer laboratory
management systems or electronic database systems. Note: A printer is required to
fully utilize the Model AD-S-D4004 enhanced electronic package.

Training: One-day training at the factory is included with all our instruments. We
discuss maintenance and operation of this equipment. Training is available
at customer's location for a nominal charge.

Warranty: Every instrument comes with a one-year warranty against manufacturing

KAYENESS Multiplexing Hardware for connecting up to eight Model

NOTE: Customer must provide dimentional drawing indicating
