TEST DEVICE DESIGNED TO PROTECTIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF GEOTEXTILE CUSHIONS PROFILES

Cylinder Profile Loading Apparatus (CEN / BS Standard)

  • 12″ Diameter ID X 30″ test cylinder with removable base plate used to secure load cells, lower load reaction plate, upper load applying plate. The cylinder is built in three interlocking sections which facilitate the test profile assembly and disassembly, as well as, enhancing the variability of the test profiles in the operators testing program.
  • (3) 10,000 pound load cells with summing box and indicating meter (better than 1% accuracy of reading from 3,500 pounds of force to 30,000 pounds of force)
  • Pneumatic constant loading system which can apply 500 to 20,000 (AR-S-AA-000) or 30,000 (AR-S-AA-200) pounds of force throughout its 3″ stroke with shop air of less than 105 psi Force controlled via a precision “constant-bleed” regulator
  • (2) Analog upper plate settlement indicator with 1″ range and 0.001″ (0.0254mm) resolution with adjustable mounts which allow variable positions

To have an analog output added to the digital readout of the load cell system a charge is added.

BT Technology Inc. offers (2) displacement indicators 1″ X 0.001″ res. with the system.
You request an accuracy of 0.01mm (0.00039″). Most indicators with this accuracy are usually fragile and have limited travel capabilities.
BT Technology Inc. offers in place of the analog indicators:

(1) Digital (metric / English selectable readout) upper plate settlement indicator with 1″ (25.4mm) range and 0.0005″ (0.0127 mm) resolution with adjustable mounts which allow variable positions

(B)
(1) Digital (metric / English selectable readout) upper plate settlement indicator with over 5″ (127 mm) range and 0.0005″ (0.0127 mm) resolution with adjustable mounts which allow variable positions

NOTE: The application of 20,000 pounds of force with the pneumatic loading system refers to the force from the ram before any loss from friction of the aggregate to the cylinder wall. The total 20,000 pounds may not be delivered to the lower plate and the load cells. The draft standard asks for loading from 200 to 1,500 kPa (3,000 to 25,000 pounds of force) over the 12″ diameter lower plate. The 20,000-pound loading system is limited to a 20,000 pound max before the loss due to aggregate/wall friction. It is possible to develop friction losses over 25% of the applied load. To more closely replicate the performance oriented properties which this test attempts to measure, BT Technology Inc. chooses to utilize a constant loading system to maintain a constant compressive load throughout the duration of the test. This loading system is identical to the loading configuration which BT Technology Inc. uses on several of our devices which require high compressive or tensile loads. If you desire we could substitute a mechanical of hydraulic loading system that would be less expensive, but would not maintain a constant compressive load as the profile shifts and settles and would require a technician to make adjustments.

X-Z Axis Deformation Measurement Device

  • Z-axis indicated via a digital indicator with 12mm travel by 0.001mm resolution
  • X axis indicated via a digital indicator with 150mm travel by 0.01mm resolution
  • X-axis travel uses rigid cast slide mechanism with a manual hand-wheel leadscrew drive. X-axis digital indicator is securely fastened to this mechanism.
  • An 12″ X ” 12 aluminum plate is mounted to the X Axis slide to facilitate the positioning (or securing) of the test metal for measurement.
  • The Z-axis digital indicator features a rigid but adjustable bridge mount over the X-axis slide mechanism. This set up will allow the quick yet accurate positioning of the indicator in the most appropriate X or Y-axis location relative to the test metal deformation.
